The Boston Chapter Prepares for an Outstanding Year: Ready, Set, Launch!

Boston Chapter 2013-2014Boston Chapter 2013-2014

The Boston Chapter of Jack & Jill is excited to start the 2013-2014 program year in the spirit of Sankofa. That is, we are looking back in order to move forward. We are reflecting on our original purpose, goals, and values and acknowledging the promise of the future in our children. We will operationalize this through our chapter theme of “Back to Basics: Children, Connectivity, and Community”. Our efforts will keep our children at the forefront of our work together. We strive to stay connected on an interpersonal level as well as through the use of technology. We are pleased to launch our chapter website,, which will allow us to stay connected to our immediate and distant communities. Additionally, the “members only” component will increase chapter efficiencies by providing a central location for information, materials, exchange of ideas, and accomplishments.

On Saturday,September 21, the Boston Chapter held the annual Jack & Jill Day celebration. We decided to have an “old school” picnic to give new and returning families and opportunity to mix, mingle, fellowship, and just have fun. The teens also paid tribute to the memory of Carole Robertson in a presentation to those in attendance. We also asked families to donate items for the homeless. Community service is a consistent feature in the plans that we have to engage our children, thoughtfully, meaningfully, and purposely with one another and with the greater world community. We are off to a great start as we take it … “Back to Basics: Children, Connectivity, and Community”.
